Lebanon celebrates the World Environment Day 2004 under the theme: "Wanted: Oceans & Seas: dead or alive?" "Every year the international community celebrates the World Environment Day on the 5th of June. This year, the United Nations Environment Program launched the theme for the World Environment Day 2004 which is: Wanted! Seas and Oceans – Dead or Alive? On this occasion, the Ministry of Environment is organizing a series of events extending between May 31st and June 10, in collaboration with partners from the public, private, academic and NGO sectors. Activities during the 5th of June celebration: 1) Launching of six TV spots, the messages in which are: 1. Environmentally Friendly Consumption of Water. 2. Environmentally Friendly Consumption of Energy. 3. Keeping Our Beaches Clean. 4. Keeping Our Forests & Picnic Sites Clean. 5. Minimizing Air Pollution from the Transportation Sector. 6. Environmental Usage of Pesticides. 2) Conference about: "Thermal Engineering; Theory & Practices" 31/5/2004-4/6/2004 3) Regional Meeting for the Ozone specialists in the ESCWA area 2/6/2004. 4) Exhibition on: Marine Environment ….Where are we leading to? Merveilles de la Mer Musuem, Jdiedeh. 5/6/2004. 5) Preparation of TV Talk programs among Religious personal about "Protection of Environment" from a Religious point of view at Manar & Nour Stations. 6) Broadcasting of specialized TV programs about Environment 1. @fal.home –Lebanese TV- 5/6/2004. 2. Kids' Power- LBC-8-12/6/2004. 7) A play " The Environment in Our Country is Ours & Our Children" ( Al Biaa Bi Bladna Elna wle wladna) 9/6/2004 8) Organizing a trip to touristic, environmental, & traditional places for the diplomats & donating Agencies. |
