About SPASI

General Information

  • SPASI is a two year project that was initiated in February 2000 and scheduled to be end in February 2002
  • The project is financed by the European Commission, managed by the United Nations Development Programme and Hosted by the Ministry of Environment.
  Goal
  • SPASI aims at strengthening the permitting, monitoring and auditing system for industries through the development of necessary legislation and the introduction of adequate tools.

Objectives

  • Set/update decrees for classified establishments;
  • Set/update standards for environmental quality;
  • Set environmental auditing procedures;
  • Strengthen the capacity for environmental monitoring procedures;
  • Develop Compliance Action Plan;
  • Spread awareness concerning industrial compliance;
  • Build the capacity of concerned parties to conduct CAP, environmental audits and monitoring;
  • Facilitate environmental compliance in selected priority industry through the introduction of economic instruments.
