Italian Ministry of Environment Mission in Lebanon Activity Report
The Italian environmental mission that started in September 2006 and was completed in November 2006 was instrumental in carrying out many activities that included mapping, clean-up and monitoring operations in the sea and on the seabed facing the power station in Jiyeh and the archipelago of Palm Islands Protected Area. They also carried out professional sampling and monitoring activities along the Lebanese coast and last but not least an aerial surveillance all along the coast. [click for report]
Environmental Protection Engineering S. A. – EPE (Greece) - Final Report
Final report of the oil spill clean up of 3 sites between Jadra and Ras al Saadiyat in Lebanon - south of Beirut. The completed sites were delivered to UNDP in the presence of a representative of the Ministry of Environment of Lebanon and an international expert (from Cedre) in accordance to the contract signed between UNDP and Environmental Protection Engineering S. A. – EPE (Greece). This work was made possible by the grant received by UNDP from the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) for the oil spill clean up operations South of Beirut. The Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation – SDC (Switzerland) Final Report
Final report of phase I cleanup operations on Palm Islands Nature Reserve (off the coast of Tripoli) and the 22 km stretch of coastline between Enfe and Tripoli. The phase I work focused on removal fuel oil that presented a risk of being re-mobilized during strong adverse sea conditions, which are common in the area during the winter period.
