Our mission was to educate the public about the importance of keeping a clean environment, I also implemented what I have learnt in Japan to help inspire the other children who has never left our neighborhood I downloaded information from the website and made flyers to distribute to everyone I also invited other children from different schools to come out and help with the clean up. The clean up day was held on November 19, 2005 in Hartford, Ct USA. I had about 35 people coming out to help with the massive clean up we also had The television station and news paper media advertising the project so more people were aware of it. I plan to do another project planting trees this year.
The group is made up of children my age12 & 13 years old mainly from my school
I think of my group as children who would like a better and cleaner place to live in when we grow up, and being the one that went to Japan others are looking to me to tell them how to start their own clean up days and how to get the government to help.
The Hartford courant ran an article about the trip to Japan and the clean up day. I also got the chance to be on television telling everyone about the environment through my eyes and how we can keep it clean.
If anyone is interested, I am planning a tree planting event this year and would like some imput
It was a great learning experience for me, one thet I can take with me to help myself and others learn about the environment in keep it clean and healthy.
My project was very difficult because no one wanted to listen to a child but then they realize I was very serious and started to take notice but the reward was great and I would do it again.
