Our group mostly consists of elementary school students but has some junior high school children on the team as well. Some join with their siblings and friends while others join by themselves. Children from four nearby cities and towns gather to join our team.
*Forests/Tree Planting, *Biodiversity, *Nature Conservation
We take part in nature observation and conservation activities in nearby areas which can be carried on rather easily while having fun. We also inform the people living in our region of our past activities while searching for new members at the same time.
Although each Aeon store has its own office and does activities on their own, we try to interact with other cheer clubs by holding events and doing presentations of recent activities.
Our main activity is the observation of the biotope of our club. We have also been continuing some efforts for three years, such as finding the hometown of red dragonflies and cleaning the tidal wetland of Takamatsu.
We aim to create a chance to think about the nature and the environment and to continue with our efforts through many activities. We believe in the importance of patient but continuous effort in the region over one off events.
Groups involved in the protection of living organisms.
We are involved in observing wild birds which visit our nearby tidal wetland as well as cleaning the wetland. We have also been continuing our efforts for years in a unique attempt to find the hometown of red dragonflies. Please contact us if you are interested in learning about these activities.
I learned many things which were unbeknownst to me such as the relationship between environmental issues and poverty. The presentation on environmental protection efforts in the world included so much new information for me. There were many environmental activities that could not be done or are yet to be done in Japan. It was also a great opportunity to speak with foreigners which is quite rare in our daily lives. Issues in other countries, which normally feel rather distant in the news, felt closer and more relevant to me.
Since I really like living organisms, I like being involved in activities that deal closely with them. Activities do wear me out at times for I have to move around a lot, but it is exciting to be involved in efforts to better the environment and to learn more about environmental issues.
