We enjoy the great view of Kasumigaura Lake from our school everyday. There is a polluted first class river on our way to school, so we are aware not to make the river dirtier.
*Water Issues
Our group project is to conduct a water survey at the surrounding rivers of Kasumigaura. We investigate the water quality by using nitrous acid, phosphoric acid, and by measuring the COD and pH. Eventually we plan to find out what exactly is polluting the river.
It seems that there were other people in the summit who were also conducting water surveys. In our research, we use reagents to obtain accurate data.
People living around Tsuchiura contaminated the water of Kasumigaura. We should use environment friendly materials in order not to make creatures become extinct.
We would like to know what kind of projects and activities other water survey teams are working on.
"Great oaks from little acorns grow"
We really learned many things. Unfortunately we missed visiting the Prius plant, but we had some nice time in the EXPO 2005 pavilions and were able to learn about other countries. It would be great if the next Children's World Summit for the Environment would be held in Yakushima, Kagoshima Prefecture or Shiretoko, Hokkaido Prefecture; both designated as the World Natural Heritage. That will surely lead us to reconsider the beauty and importance of our natural resources.
When our family goes shopping, we never ask for plastic bags. We use our "my-bag". We recommend you to use it, because it is convenient and at the same time environment friendly.
