In an area in Osaka prefecture still blessed with some nature, local elementary school children gather to research and discuss what is best for the environment.
*Nature Conservation
We research the natural environment of our area to find out what is being done to protect it or if it is being destroyed. If destruction is taking place, we investigate and examine why and how that is happening. Then, students think together of their role in environmental protection.
Since our core members are 6th graders, extremely busy with preparation for entrance exams, after school enrichment lessons, and school events, we haven't been able to accomplish much lately.
Our group consist of wide range of students, from 1st graders to 6th graders. Therefore, we feel the importance of finding local nature preservation activities more easily doable by younger students.
We would like to exchange information with people around the same age.
Since many of us will enter junior high school and get busy with studies and club activities, we are worried that there would be no time to take part in eco club activities. We would appreciate it if someone could give us advice on this matter.
We were surprised and inspired to see children our age or a little older strenuously taking part in activities. We were strongly reminded that we, who are the next generation, must immediately get involved in eco activities in order to protect the global environment.
When looking back at the Children's Summit, I feel that I should have approached and interacted with foreign participants more aggressively.
I would like to brush up my English and continue to participate in meetings such as the children's environmental summits.
