We live in a city facing the ocean with a population of 400,000 people. In the summertime,we enjoy swimming in the sea and hiking in the mountains. Our family always tries to live an earth friendly life, for example, by using bicycles instead of cars as a means of transportation.
*Nature Conservation, *Urban Issues, *Energy Issues
The mission of our project is to preserve the environment of our neighbors and community, and to live an eco-friendly life.
Our activities are based on daily life. When we go out to the sea or the mountains we bring back all the garbage. As mentioned earlier, we travel by bicycles as much as possible. We use staircases rather than taking the elevator. All these are done to protect our environment.
To hand down our beautiful planet to our descendants. This is the main objective of our project.
We would like to exchange information with groups who are working on similar topics to ours, such as environment protection, energy issues, and urban issues.
We, human beings, are all responsible for maintaining our planet clean and beautiful. As expressed in the Japanese word "Mottainai", we should take good care of things and materials surrounding us. If all the people in this world had the "Mottainai" spirit in their mind, we would surely be able to keep our earth even more beautiful in the future.
It was our first time to attend a huge event where people around the world gathered. Days flew by quickly, while we enjoyed being friends with participants from countries that we didn't even know in the past. Although it was a bit tough for us to express our own thoughts and feelings in English, we found ourselves inspired to attend any future similar events.
We realized how blessed we are to live a descent life after learning about children's life in the
developing countries. We would like to keep on thinking what we can do as people living in the
developed society, and how we can preserve the environment.
