Our groups consists of cousins and their friends. We started this Eco-Club with an objective to learn more about the nature. Our major activities are bird watching and creature observations in the mountains, rivers and the sea around Nagasaki. We also do trash-picking, recycling, farming, and save energy at home.
*Wastes and Recycling
We are actively working on reducing household wastes and recycling trash. As for raw garbage, we use Effective Microorganisms to make it into fertilizer. In terms of other trash and garbage, we carefully classify them into waste paper, recyclable garbage, and plastic in order to recycle all kinds of trash.
To make our activity fun and interesting, we weigh the amount of garbage we collect and record the results. At the end of each month we make a graph to see our accomplishments. There is a person in charge in each household to carry out this activity. We also utilize the "my-bag", and cooperate in recycling milk cartons and plastic trays.
Our motto is to try not to buy unnecessary things. At the same time, we aim to use natural materials and needless materials waste effectively for art crafts and other things.
We would like to exchange information with other elementary and junior high school students' groups that are working on farming, and also with some friends living far from Japan.
We are a group enjoying nature observation and nature walk in Nagasaki, Japan. Our present interest is to know more about the nature and culture of other regions in the world. We love farming and taking care of small animals. We really hope that this planet full of nature will be everlasting.
I easily made friends with other participants of the CWS 2005. I was really impressed to know about the situation in other countries, particularly through talks and presentations of my Bangladeshi, Sri Lankan and Guatemalan friends. Time spent in the EXPO 2005, such as in the Nature School Forest and the exhibition of the Ministry of the Environment was meaningful. I experienced how good it feels to make the earth clean by our own hands. At first in the group discussions, it was slight difficult to communicate with other participant, but I managed to share some of my opinions with other people. I realized that some of the things I was doing unconsciously in daily life was contributing to environment protection.
After attending the CWS, I started to become interested in forests. Learning the importance of tree-planting, I planted a cutting back home in Nagasaki. Planting a cutting eventually leads the tree to have strong roots and to grow big. I have shared about the summit with other people, and as a result, my sisters have also become cooperative in saving energy and recycling things. I dream to live happily surrounded by the nature, such as trees, animals, soil and water.
