Let's Create a Biotope in Our School Yard
Aichi Prefecture, Japan
School
Friends in the same class
Our school is located in a quite neighborhood in the heart of the city. In our little school yard, an old cherry tree blooms to its fullness in the spring and gingko nuts fall off the maidenhair tree in the fall. We have created the biotope in the hopes of recapturing the nature in which white cabbage butterflies fly about and red dragonflies enjoy their adventure the same. Every day we feel the importance of nature. (We can hardly wait for the arrival of spring!)
*Biodiversity, *Others
As members of the student council and the beautification committee, we have made it our duty to maintain a natural environment for the trees on our campus. By protecting our nearby ecology, we have strived to do our part, often small efforts continued relentlessly days on, in stopping the destruction of nature. Around the same time the creation of the biotope (although very small) was discussed, and in the end it was made. The environmental summit and its message towards nature provided us with a chance to look back on the nature on our campus and helped create successful results.
Environmental Conservation
Let us protect the nature with our very own hands! The key is for each person to take careful note of their surroundings.
Schools which have biotopes
There is a new biotope in our school yard. Over the course of years, no matter how long it may take, we would like to create an ideal environment for living organisms to inhabit.
I learned of the current state of the earth. Hearing many languages from all over the world and meeting new friends was a great experience I will treasure for years to come. If given the chance, I would like to take part in the Children's Summit for the Environment once again with these friends of mine.
As our school project, I would like to protect and grow the biotope in which the four splendid seasons of Japan could be seen and felt through the plants and living organisms. I look forward to seeing the flowers bloom and the bugs fly about.
