All our members are students, three of whom have attended the Summit in Canada, U.S.A and Japan. We organise our clean up exervises in different areas, design posters, educate households and plant trees so as to make our enviornment more cleaner and greener. We collect plastic waste which in turn is recycled.
*Wastes and Recycling, *Urban Issues
our initial mission is to tidy up our city in terms of all waste. We then sort the waste according to paper, plastic and foil. We do various cleaning exercises followed by greening the city. We also make posters to educate people.
The Main goal is to make people aware of Rs reusing, refilling, reducing, recycling and refusing to use plastics. Every week we meet up and plan for the forth coming week. We either organise clean ups, visit educational centres where we learn more about the Rs make posters which are put in various public places and in this way awareness is created, go and talk to owners of various companies on reducing or rethinking on alternates to plastics. We also have various collection points where people throw their plastic waste which we collect and then sell for recycling. The money is then used for tree planting activities.
In reality it hasbeen proved that any material which is non bio degradeable and thrown anywhere can cause harm to life. Plastics do not rot like food. When left in the environment, they are bound to be consumed by animals whose death is then immediate. At the same time dump sites keep piling up.
Once a clean up area is identified and cleaned up, we send written proposals for implementation. We are still working on articles.
Waste and Recycling, Urban Issues
We must learn to conserve our enviornment using the 7Rs - Reuse, Reduce, Refill, Recycle, Refuse, Rethink and Redesign
It was a fabulous and fantastic summit, A lot on conservation was learnt which has helped us a gread deal in enabling us to start our own club and put things into practice.
