School children from age group 9-12 living in urban center. A lot of problems are realized in this region. These include, air/ land and water pollution as a result of industrial wastes etc. Being the only city that has a national park, Nairobi receives many tourists annually. For this reason, our members have taken great interest in wildlife and conservation on natural resources.

Focus
During this term, our main focus was the implementation of the commitments that our world summit delegates made during the Japan gathering of all nations. These commitments targeted four main components of the environment namely: Recycling, Energy saving, Water utilization and Forest / Biodiversity.
• Recycling: - Our members labeled the huge bins on the ground to separate all kinds of waste for recycling or processing in order to ensure minimization of land fill waste.
• Energy Saving: - The members worked on posters persuading the rest of the school to switch off lights and air conditioners when not in use.
• Water Utilization: - A lot more charts were worked on to discourage misuse of water either in the wash rooms or at the Zero B taps.
• Forest & Biodiversity:-In order to combat desertification, which is a serious environmental problem across the world today, our members, though in a small way, initiated a tree nursery in the compound. The seedlings, which are raised in the used milk packets, will be donated during national tree planting events or used to increase the tree population in our school.
Together with the above focuses, we also visited the Tunza International Children's website to be up-to-date with the rest of the world as far as the environmental issues are concerned. During such occasions, children were informed of what goes on in such fora as the international children's conference on the environment. They were also enlightened on the process and importance of participation in such events.
Lastly, children were encouraged to take part in UNEP painting competitions, AFEW art competitions and all such activities that focused on the conservation/ protection of the environment.
• Working in groups for the realization of the above focuses. Children carry out their duties in rotation.
• Serving the community by donating the saplings for afforestation and beautification purposes.
• Wastes and Recycling- our pupils are always working hard to make the rest of the school aware of the importance of recycling and proper disposal methods. They have labeled all the litter bins and encourage the school to put the wastes accordingly.
• We believe in afforestation and a cleaner environment. For these reasons, our groups started the tree nursery project.
• We believe in recycling of waste material, taking the least from the environment. For example, our waste plastic materials are sent to the plastic factory; paper is sent to the paper factory as raw material in the making of tissue rolls.
We publish an environment club magazine every year and launch on the environment day.
We would like to know more about tree nursery and compost manure.
To the rest of the young environmental ambassadors worldwide, we say "Let's join together and unite to share, for the future of this planet is held in our hands."
It was indeed a very informative experience for the children. They had great opportunity to exchange their views, ideas- activities on recycling, conservation was of great use. Participants have shared their experiences with those children who did not make it to the summit. In conclusion, our children delegates learnt a lot and have become even more enthusiastic than before.
