The Ministry of Environment
presents 'The Ranger', a new member to the family of Protected
Areas in Lebanon. The Ranger is the new Protected Areas mascot
introduced to represent Protected Areas at sites, on media,
and in all publications as a friendly, aware, and concerned
citizen.
'The Ranger' surfaces as a
recognition for all rangers in the Lebanese protected areas
who are, around the clock, watching our natural heritage,
protecting it, as well as making our visits to these sites
pleasant, informative and unforgettable.
'The Ranger' is as well a
reminder to all people that protected areas are not islands
but instead they are open to the community and greatly need
their support.
Why 'The Ranger'? As most of
the Mediterranean ecosystems has been modified to different
extents by man, and as we now realize the devastating
consequences of ecosystem damage and destruction, man is
primarily responsible and the only able to reverse his actions
and restore damages ecosystems and protect existing ones. 'The
Ranger' is here to remind each and everyone of us of the debt
we carry to nature as well as the role we can easily play and
should play to protect and maintain healthy, rich, and
sustainable ecosystems.
The Ranger invites you all to
get into comfort walking shoes, group family and friends, and
pack your binoculars, book, and camera and start off a
relaxing, refreshing, necessary and memorable and supportive
adventure into protected areas and surrounding communities. |
