News > SISPAM project prepared National Action Plan for Protected Areas

Within the framework of the Stable Institutional Structure for Protected Areas Management (SISPAM) Project, MOE prepared a National Action Plan for Protected Areas (NAPPA) which outlines purposes, objectives, and tasks that need to be fulfilled in order to successfully manage protected areas in Lebanon.

The National Action Plan for Protected Areas (NAPPA), a visionary document that has determined the priority activities and actions for effective management of Protected Areas in Lebanon. It allocates roles and responsibilities and budget estimates for the implementation of the priority activities and actions. In its final form, the NAPPA will form the basis for leveraging and securing funding from the public treasury in the form of a Law Program (قانون برنامج).  The allocated funds will then be used to implement the activities and actions outlined in the NAPPA as follows:

Activity 1 - STRATEGIC CONSERVATION PLAN

Activity 2 - NEW PA CATEGORY SYSTEM

Activity 3 - INSTITUTIONAL FRAMEWORK FOR PA  MANAGEMENT

Activity 4 - CAPACITY BUILDING FOR PA MANAGEMENT

Activity 5 - EFFECTIVE MANAGEMENT OF PROTECTED AREAS

Activity 6 - SUSTAINABLE FINANCIAL STRATEGY FOR PA MANAGEMENT

Activity 7 - PUBLIC AWARENESS STRATEGY

Activity 8 - ECOTOURISM PROMOTION AND VISITOR MANAGEMENT
