I try to save electricity everyday.
*Energy Issues, *Others
To turn off the lights when not in use in all aspects of everyday life. Not to use air conditioners unless it is really necessary.
I conduct activities on my own. Every time I find new ideas about saving energy on the newspaper, I try to carry them out.
There is a limit to the energy we have on this earth.
I wish to exchange information with people from countries that have different climate from Japan.
I always keep in mind not to waste electricity. The number of electrical appliances is rapidly increasing in Japan, and we cannot live without electricity. That is why I think "saving electricity" is essential.
I was really impressed to be able to think about the environment with other foreign participants whom I didn't even know before the Summit.
Since I was interested in the global warming issue, I visited one of the plants of Toyota Motor Corporation and interviewed the people there to obtain some interesting information.
After the Summit, I have become more alert to TV news or newspaper articles related to the environment. In order to prevent global warming on an individual basis, I am carrying out small things such as not to turn up the temperature of the room heater, and to unplug the outlets when not in use.
I do not belong to any group, and therefore I am not taking part in big activities. Yet, I would like to keep on doing things good for the earth by having my family involved into it. The Children's World Summit for the Environment gave me the motivation to think like this.
An environmental specialist gave a special lecture at school, which drew my interest to environmental issues. Since then, I started saving electricity.
