Minister of Environment Sponsors the Conference “Renewal and Revitalization of the Abu Ali River Course” at Beirut Arab University – Tripoli Branch

The conference was held under the patronage and in the presence of H.E. Minister of Environment Dr. Tamara El-Zein.

Minister of Environment Dr. Tamara El-Zein stressed the importance of linking scientific research with policymaking and decision-making, and the necessity of fostering closer cooperation between academia and local authorities. Within the framework of the conference theme, she emphasized the need to adopt the concept of “revitalization” instead of “rehabilitation,” which does not necessarily account for all dimensions. She also underlined that any urban planning must remain committed to protecting cultural heritage and social fabric, and avoid any plans that might deprive the community of its vital connection to its surrounding environment.
